Our clients often ask about the difference between our two distinct ways to get clothing tailored entirely to you: Made-to-Measure (M2M) and Bespoke. Both routes offer a far superior fit than off-the-rack clothing, but each serves a different purpose. Knowing the difference helps you choose what suits your wardrobe and lifestyle best.

What is Bespoke at G&G?

With bespoke tailoring, nothing is off the shelf. From jackets and coats to bespoke suits, tailored trousers, skirts, dresses - everything can be custom-designed from the ground up. From our very first consultation we will work closely to discover colours that light you up, and fabrics that are perfect for you.

We aren't joking when we say that we can literally make anything you desire - you choose the cut, cloth, lining, style details: if you can dream it, we will make it.

The Perfect Fit

Measurements are used to draft a unique pattern for you; fittings and adjustments are part of the process - ensuring not just a good fit, but a garment that conforms to every subtle angle of your body (shoulders, posture, proportions). During the process you will have at least two fittings, and we offer alterations as a standard part of the bespoke process.

What is Made-to-Measure at G&G?

Our made-to-measure offering is a curated selection of designs and fabrics. Our line offers a set of 13 signature designs - suits, jackets, trousers, waistcoats - crafted in luxury cloths from top mills in the UK and Italy.

During a consultation at our studio in Central London, one of our friendly members of our all-female team will take your measurements and fit you into one of our “master model blocks,” pinning to your exact fit preferences.

That Personal Touch

While the style templates are predetermined, you can still make each garment feel personal. From selecting the exact fabric and lining to choosing a fit and silhouette that truly reflects your style, your piece becomes uniquely yours - you can even add monogram embroidery for an extra layer of individuality.

Faster turnaround

Once your measurements are taken and the order is placed, M2M garments are delivered (as if by magic) to your home in 6-8 weeks. Because the service works from pre-existing patterns that are then refined to your exact fit, rather than drafting a completely new pattern from scratch, it allows for a lower price point.

M2M offers you Savile-Row-level fit and craftsmanship, within the framework of proven, popular designs - and at a more accessible price point.

Which Should You Choose?

• Choose Bespoke if you’re looking for something entirely unique - a garment crafted just for you, perhaps with design flourishes, unusual fabric, or special tailoring. It’s ideal for once-in-a-lifetime pieces (like a bespoke coat or a statement suit), or if you have a body shape or style preferences that off-the-rack (or even M2M) can’t satisfy.

• Choose Made-to-Measure if you want a refined, well-fitting wardrobe staple - a tailored suit, trousers or jacket - and you value quality and fit but don’t need full customisation. It’s perfect for building a core wardrobe of pieces that you’ll wear often, season after season.

Neither M2M nor Bespoke is inherently “better” than the other - they simply serve different needs. M2M is a brilliant entry into the world of custom tailoring: manageable price, reliable turnaround, and a garment that fits far better than mass-produced clothing. Bespoke, by contrast, is for the woman who wants to take full creative control, cherishing the craftsmanship and individuality of a truly custom garment.
